    In the paper Si-C-O coatings on stainless steel were prepared via repeated dipcoating ploycarbosilane (PCS,Mn=1300) in toluene followed by pyrolysis under N2 atmosphere.Dense coatings were obtained by carefully controlling the weight concentrations of PCS in toluene,pyrolysis temperature and ramping rate,and conducting infusible treatment prior to pyrolysis.The surface microhardness with coating was enhanced over 60% compared with that of the substrate.

    Amorphous carbon nitride films (a-C:N) have been grown on Ge substrate us-ing radio frequency sputtering of graphite in nitrogen and acetylene plasma. The structure and composition of a-C:N films were analyzed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) ,infrared absorption (FT-IR) and Raman spectroscopies (RS). The results indicate that the incorporated nitrogen is chemically bonded to carbon.The concentration of the incorporated nitrogen and triple bonded CN in a-C:N films increased with increasing of nitrogen content in mixture gas.

    The thermodynamic calculation for deposition reaction was performed by computer program Solgasmix-PV,the calculation results show that the deposition of Cr and Si onto iron-base alloys is possible by the use of a ternary activator(e.g.NaF+NaCl+AlF3),a promis-ing coating can be deposited by a cementation powder mixture of Cr and Si in proportation of 12/1.

    The oxidation and formation of oxide fold of Al-2% Cu alloy were recorded with a camera in electromagnetic confinement process under different conditions.By analysing those photographs,it was found that increasing the drawing speed,reducing the ratio of maximum thickness of liquid meniscus to its minimum thickness,and eliminating the electromagnetic stir all reduced the oxidation and formation of oxide fold,and therefore a good surface quality.

    The difference of microstructure of Fe-36.5at% Al and Fe-36.5at% Al alloy with 5at% Cr,and influence of temperature on tensile strength and Fracture pattern were studied.It shows that Cr can improve alloys plasticity except at 500℃ and alloys yeield strength except at room-temperature.Cr changed alloys Fracture pattern in most situation and transfomed mix fracture into cleavage fracture.

    The effect of stablilization treatment on microstructures and stress-rupture properties of GH738 alloy bars is investigated.It is shown that the stabilization treatment significantly increases the stress-rupture life of smooth specimens and notched specimens,elongation, and avoids the notch sensitivity of the alloy.

    The probability of Al/TiC in-situ density gradient composite formed by the second phase particles (TiC) in matrix (Al) was studied by theoretical and experimental method.The density gradient of particles along the direction of thickness was:GP=2πrlXL*(1+At/rGc),here:A=r021-ρ)g/45η.The results of analysis was primarily verified and the in-situ Al/Ti C composite had been prepared.

    Zheng Min, Zhang Pengzhou. Surface Morphology and Fracture Characteristics of CVD-SiC Filament[J]. Journal of Materials Engineering, 1997, 0(3): 30-33.

    The surface morphology and fracture characteristics of CVD-SiC filament have been studied with the aid of SEM analyses in this paper.The results show that the filament with high strength have smooth surface and homogeneous and compact structure.Furthermore,the fracture of this kind of filament often originates in the tungsten region.While the filament with low strength has coarse surface and loose structure,and the fracture of this filament relates to many defects of filaments.

    The mechanism of adding mineralizer in single crystal blade casting shell mould for enhancing high temperature strength has been studied.It is revealed thatthe addition of a Al-Si series mineralizer in the shell mould materials may actively accelerate the formation of mullite phase during sintering shell at appropriate high temperature,which constructs a useful network between Al2O3 particles,thus greatly increasing the shell mould strength.

    The paper contrasts the method of ion selective electrode to the method of mod-ified potential titration in the determination of the content of inorganic chlorine in AG-80 epoxy resin.The experiment result indicates that the latter is more accurate and convenient.So it improves the work efficiency greatly.

    In this paper,low cycle fatigue experiments at elevated temperature are finished in aluminum alloy LD8 specimens with two kinds of notches.The cyclic strain and stress is calculated by means of the program TMF.The results of experiments and calculations show that equivalent strain range can be as the parameters of low cycle fatigue life.
