Forming Rule of Coating During Process of Micro-arc Oxidation on Magnesium Alloys

Abstract：Some rules are obeyed on the micro-arc oxidation(MAO) forming process of the magnesium alloys.The size variation of MAO coatings in different parts is found that in the earlier stage the coating growing outward is dominant,but in the later stage the coating growing inward is dominant.And the migration rule of some alloying elements in the matrix was studied.Moreover the velocity of some particles was estimated in the earlier stage of the coating growing.The results showed that in the earlier stage the velocity of the coating growing was controlled by the velocity of the mass transfer.However in the later stage it was controlled by the diffusion equation.And the diffusion of the oxygen ion was very important.
