Chen Dehou, Liu Caimu. Application and Development of Structure Materials for Space Shuttle[J]. Journal of Materials Engineering, 1989, 0(6): 2-7.

In this paper, the recent progress for structure materials of space shuttle has been reviewed briefly. It includes the requirements for space environment and structure materials, thermal insulating material, non-metallic material and its composite material, metal-matrix compsite, metal material, mechanical and physical properties of the materials and their testing techniques. The trend of structure material development for space shuttle has been pointed out also.

Zeng Hanmin. The Developments in Polymeric Composites——The fiber-reinforced resin composites Ⅱ. The Fiber-Reinforcements And Fiber-Reinforced Thermosetting Resin Composites[J]. Journal of Materials Engineering, 1989, 0(6): 8-20.

In this paper, the characteristics of fiber-reinforcements, such as glass, carbon, silicon carbide, Kevlar and alumina fibers, have been presented briefly. The state of the art resin systems have been discussed, and some typical and high-perfomance fiber-reinforced thermosetting resin composites have been presented.

Chen Rong, Zhang Guoding, Wu Renjie. The Affection of Alloy Elements on the Strength and Toleration of C/Al Composite Wires[J]. Journal of Materials Engineering, 1989, 0(6): 28-31.

The affection of alloy elements on the impact and tensile property of C/Al composite wires produced by means of CVD Ti-B coating has been studied. Interface bonding states of composite wires can be changed by the variation of alloy elements which affects the strength and toleration of composite wires in the same direction. Adding some Ti elements into Al matrix can increase the strength and toleration of composite wires and increasing contents of Cu and Zn elements in matrix has bad affection.

Sun Zhongzi, Liu hong, He Fei. Study on the Process of Copper Autocatalytic Plating of Plastics[J]. Journal of Materials Engineering, 1989, 0(6): 32-34,31.

Process of copper autocatalytic plating on ABS plastic, polyvinyl chloride, polyester film have been studied in this investigation. The composition, binding power, electrical resistivity and corrosion resistance of plating were analysed. The results indicate that the process of copper autocatalytic plating on plastics is simple. Property of plating is stable. It is suitable for conductive plastic and ground coat of other metal or alloy plating on plastics.

Wang Jiegan, Feng Zheng, Zhou Jianchu. Effect of the Morphology of Carbides in the Carburizing Case on the Wear Resistance and the Contact Fatigue of Gears[J]. Journal of Materials Engineering, 1989, 0(6): 35-40.

12Cr2Ni4A gear steel with a great quantity of disperse spheroidal carbides in the carburizing case has superior wear resistance and long life of contact fatigue. This kind of carburizing case can be obtained by multi-stage pre-processing technique. It is easy to manipulate, and the morphology of carbides obtained is better than that of foreign gears. Therefore, it is suggested to stipulate in the technical specification that a large quantity of disperse carbides should be existed in the case of heavy duty gears subjected wear.
