    P. R. Smith, F. H. Froes. Developments in Titanium Metal Matrix Composites[J]. Journal of Materials Engineering, 1990, 0(3): 1-5.

A review is given of developments in the titanium metal matrix composites (MMC) area over the past two decades. Particular topies of discussion include: fibers, matrices, fabrication techniques, mechanical properties of both the fiber and composite, and fractography. Conclusions regarding the status of the titanuium (MMC) technology are presented along with the suggestions for further metallurgical work necessary to fully realize the potential of these materials.

Hu Guangli, Zou Yuanpeng. The Feature of Fracture at Initial Region and Mechanism of Crack Initiation under Repeated Impact Fatigue Load for 300M Steel[J]. Journal of Materials Engineering, 1990, 0(3): 6-9.

The repeated impact fatigue A-N (impact energy-cycle number)curves of 300M steel oil quenched and isothermally treated at 250℃ were determined. The effect of stress concentration factor on the A-N curve was examined. The notch sensitivities to the microstructures gained by oil quenching and isothermal treatment were compared under the repeated impact load. Emphatically, based on the observation and analysis of fracture at initial region of the samples, the mechanism of crack initiation was studied under the condition of different stress concentration factor and impact energy.

Ma Deliang, Ye Zhizhen, Zhao Weibiao. Study of Gold-Silver-Nickel Tube[J]. Journal of Materials Engineering, 1990, 0(3): 10-13,30.

This paper introduces a new method to produce a duplex matal tube, which is a precious metal tube composed with a common metal tube after cold drawing and diffused at high temperature for a certain period of time. The composite processing can be carried out on the conventional tube production line. The new method can save more than 60% noble metal, and it has solved the problem of the retrieval rejects by chemical treatment basically.

Li Zhao. An Adhesive Used for Flexible Bonding of Acrylic Plastics in Aircraft Cabin[J]. Journal of Materials Engineering, 1990, 0(3): 18-21.

A brief description of an adhesive composed of epoxy acrylate toughed with CTBN is introduced. It is used for bonding of the acrylic plastics with nylon or dacron tripe served as flexible edge attachments in aircraft cabin; The superior characteristics of this adhesive, such as less effect on acrylic plastics to appear grazing, less allergic reaction to the skin of workers and longer storage life, etc, are presented and discussed.

Yuan Zhenming. Constitution of Image Processing System and It’s Application to NDT[J]. Journal of Materials Engineering, 1990, 0(3): 28-30.

The principle and system of image processing for negative film have been introduced in this paper. Porosity on casting surface, void and fiber content in CFRP have been measured quantitatively using image processing system.

Xiao Huimei. Laser Micro Photographic Instrument Used for Analysis in Aeronautical Materials Performance and Defect.[J]. Journal of Materials Engineering, 1990, 0(3): 36-37.

Laser micro photographic analysis is one of new technology developing speedly, which can be used to analyze non-conductor materials, without previously treating samples. This method is similar to non-destructive analysis, widely being applyed in metallurgy, geology, glass and ceramic industry, biology and medicine, public security and archaeology. There is a special effect in monitoring composition and performance of aeronautical and astronautical materials.

Sun Shuzhen, Li Shuyuan, Zheng Yunrong. Fracture and Crack Analysis of Turbine Blades of WJ5A Jet Engine[J]. Journal of Materials Engineering, 1990, 0(3): 45-48.

In this paper an analysis for an accident of WJ5A jet engine is made. On the basis of visual, fluorescent, fracture anrl metallographic examinations, obvious trace of overburn is revealed. By means of comparison with structure obtained at the laboratory simulation. We’ve determined that the temperature of the overheated area was reached to 1290℃, which caused the failure of the blades. Some recommendations are also put forward for the safty service of jet engine in future.
