Wu Xueren, Yan Minggao. Role of Research on Mechanical Behaviour in the Development of New Materials——A Brief Assessment of ICM6[J]. Journal of Materials Engineering, 1992, 0(1): 2-5.

The article gave an outline of the sixth International Conference on Mechanical Behaviour of Materials (ICM6). Attention has been focused on the recent international achievements in the research on mehanical behaviour of novel materials, and its role in the new materials development and applications. Finally some proposals for strengthening China's efforts in this field were made.

    A. A. Elien, A. M. Mamonov. Thermal-Hydrotreatment of Cast Titanium Alloys[J]. Journal of Materials Engineering, 1992, 0(1): 14-16.

Possibilities for control of structure and increase of mechanical properties of cast titanium alloys VT5L and VT20L by means of thermal hydrotreatment have been discussed. Thermal hydrotreatment is coordination of reversible alloying of hydrogen with thermal influence on hydrogenated materials. It is shown that use of technological process of thermal hydrotreatment on the basis of control of mechanism β⇔α with rational selection of concentration of hydrogen, temperature of hydrogenation, cooling and degassing velocities may change the macrostructure from platy into dispersion. Thermal hydrotreatment can ensure alloys to increase strength and plasticity,in particular, longevity in the fatigue test.

Gao Jiacheng, Zhang Yaping. The Microstructure of Ceramic-based Composite Coatings for Thermal Barrier[J]. Journal of Materials Engineering, 1992, 0(1): 21-24.

The microstructure of ceramic-based composite coatings for thermal barrier (A13O3-FNA1-Cu) has been studied by SEM and X-raying. The particular attention has been paid to the diffusion reaction, liqued sintering and the small grain size of the coatings by flame spraying ceramic-based composite powders. The effect of these microstructure features on the bond strength, heat ressistivity and spalling resistance of the coating is discussed also.

Wang Shuzhi, Wan Jianxin. An Investigation on the Overheating of Cast Aluminium Alloy ZL205A-T5[J]. Journal of Materials Engineering, 1992, 0(1): 25-29.

In this paper the effects of solution treatment temperature and time on the overheating structure characteristics and the tensile properties of alloys in T5 condition have been studied. The formation mechanism of overheating phases has been discussed also. It can be a reference to prevent the overheating of castings and to judge the overheating structure in practice.

Nan Junma, Zhang Dingquan,Yan Zheng, Jin Jun. Measurements of Residual Stresses on the Weld HAZ of Shot-Peened Landing Gear Tubes[J]. Journal of Materials Engineering, 1992, 0(1): 36-38.

The residual stresses were detevmined with X-ray diffraction method on the shot peened weld HAZ of landing gear tubes, and the working processes of the tubes were examined from the experimental results. It is shown that the distributions and magnitudes of compressive residual stresses are nearly the same in ten different directions and positions measured for the definite tube. The compressive residual strsses induced by shot peening on the nose landing gear exhibit higher values than those on the main landing gear. The analyses showed that the heat treatment should be directly preceded by welding process for both tubes so as to remove the tensile residual stresses near the welded seam, but the surface decarburizing should be avoided.
