Wang Lean. Forging Technology of Large-Size Forgings for Commercial Aircraft[J]. Journal of Materials Engineering, 1992, 0(5): 6-8.

In this paper, forging technology which is an important mainstay technology of aeronautical industry is illustrated by examples of effect of forging technology on aeronautical products. The specific characteristics of producing commercial aircraft forgings and their main technical requirements are analysed. Representative forging processes of aeronautical large size forgings are introduced. Finally, author proposes that both quality control and reform of forging technology, including forging equipment and method of forging process, must be strengthened for accelerating development of aeronautical forging technology to suit to the requirements of commercial aircraft development in China.

Yu Guifu, Dai shenglong, Hou Shue, Yan Minggao. The Effect of the Degassing on the Properties of RS Al-Li Powder Alloys[J]. Journal of Materials Engineering, 1992, 0(5): 23-27.

In this paper the effect of vacuum degassing at 500℃ on the thickness and composition of surface oxide film in RS Al-Li alloy powders, and on the resulting mechanical properties and the fractograph of the extruded material were studied. The results indicated that during degassing Li diffused constantly into surface of powders and reacted with Al2O3 and formed Li2O, increasing the thickness of surface oxide film and resulting in the change of its composition.Even though the bonding of the powders boundries has been improved after degassing the tensile strength of the alloys unchanged and the elongation a little increased. The dispersoid particles of Al3Zr in powder particle boundries may be detrimental to the bonding of the powder particle.

The paper deals with changes of the microstructure and properties of AA7075 by the addition of RE. A kind of new large phase is formed by the addition of RE in the course of crystallization. The deterioration of mechanical properties and corrosion resistance is caused by the formation of the new large phase.

Lu Feng, Ma Yijun. Study of Galvanic Corrosion between Graphite Epoxy Composite Materials and 30CrMnSiA Steel[J]. Journal of Materials Engineering, 1992, 0(5): 31-33,39.

Galvanic corrosion characteristics of graphite epoxy composite materials (GECM) coupled with 30CrMnSiA steel have been studied by electrochemical measurement, salt spray test, alternate-immesion test, performance test and stress corrosion test. Test results show that there is a serious galvanic corrosion between GECM and 30CrMnSiA steel, GECM does not affect the stress corrosion behavior of 30CrMnSiA. The article also gives some galvanic corrosion control methods for couple of GECM and 30CrMnSiA steel.

A large complex composite structure box bulkhead has been developed using silicon rubber mold integrated cocuring moulding prosess firstly in China. In the work, design of mold and layers, selection of placement of sealing slot and application of foam adhesive have been researched for moulding the composite box bulkhead for meeting the requirements of design.

Chen Yongyi, Han Xiangxin, Wang Hongying, Wang Zhihong. A Fracture Analysis of a Quick Release Hoop[J]. Journal of Materials Engineering, 1992, 0(5): 40-42.

This paper describes a fracture analysis of quick-release hoop of aircraft fuel system using microfracto-graphic analysis, scanning electron microscope (SEM) and simulation testing. It is concluded that the hoop is broken by the stress-corrosion in atmosphere conditions. The failure reasons of the stress-corrosion cracking are discussed from stress conditions, corrosion atmosphere, characteristics of alloy, and some measures for prevention of the fracture are proposed.

Chu Shuangjie, Qiao Shengru, Yang Zheng, Liu Yinglou. Oxidation and Protection of Carbon/Carbon Composites[J]. Journal of Materials Engineering, 1992, 0(5): 43-46.

The physico-mechanical properties of carbon/carbon composites make them an ideal material for many aerospace applications. However, because carbon/carbon composites are easily destroyed by oxidation, they must be protected in order to utilize their full potential. In this paper, the oxidation mechanism of carbon/carbon composites are summaried fully, generally, two approaches to oxidation protection have been taken-the application of suitable coatings and internal protection methods. As pointed out in the further discussion, a kind of oxidation-protection sysytem is composed of a carbon/carbon composite substrate with borate glassformers in the carbon matrix, and an inner coating of borate glassformers and an outer coating of SiC, Si3N4 SiO2, such a sysytem has shown oxidation resistance for hundreds of hours of cycling between roon temperature and 1700℃.
