    The development,applications and problems of structural materials of advanced aircraft are reviewed with the emphasis on the aluminium alloys,titanium alloys,high strength steels,resin-matrix eomposites and metal-matrix composites.Suggestions for founding metal material system and accelerating to develop resin matrix composites are offered.

    This paper intreduces Resin Transfer Moulding(RTM) and its characteristics. The RTM is compared with Hand-up and SMC processing methed. Based on the sumarizing the application of RTM in foreign aeronautical industry,the necessity and importance of developing RTM in aviation industry of our country are presented.

    Zhang Wei, Liu Jinghong, Zhao Zhenye. The Mechanical Properties and Microstructure of Two Heat-treatment 40CrNi2Si2MoVA Steels[J]. Journal of Materials Engineering, 1995, 0(1): 12-14.

    The study was concerned with a correlation between the microstructure and mechanical properties of two heat-treatment 40CrNi2Si2MoVA steels. This allowed a comparison between microstuctures of steels that underwent isothermall treatment and oil-quenching treatment.The results showed that both steels had a mix microstructure of temper martensite,bainite and retained austenite. The tounghness of isothermal treatment steel which had more bainite and retained austenite was improved,owing to an increase in the crack initial energy.

    Liang Youming, Lei Jie, Shen Guiqin, Wang Shihong. Fretting Fatigue and its Prevention of Ti-10V-2Fe-3Al Alloy[J]. Journal of Materials Engineering, 1995, 0(1): 15-16,24.

    The property of fretting fatigue and Prevention processes of near-β titanium alloy Ti-10V-2Fe-3Al at 740℃,2h,WQ+510℃,8h,A.C. was studied.The results show that the alloy is very sensitive to frettling damage. Fretting fatigue strength is decreased by 66%. Damage is composed mainly of fatigue delamilation. Fatigue crack initiation induced by fretting damage is main cause for premature fatigue failurs.The processes of surface strengthening,such as ion implantation,ion coating,ion nitrizing and DJB-823 solid film protection,were not effective for improving the fretting fatigue of the alloy.

    Zhu Yongfa, Cao Lili, Yao Wenqing. Study of the Chemical States on Surface and Interface of Materials Studied by Auger Chemical Effects[J]. Journal of Materials Engineering, 1995, 0(1): 17-20.

    The chemical states of surface and interface of three film materials have been studied using Auger chemical effects. The results show that the Sb which was implanted by high energy ions reacted with SnOx and formed SbSnOx species. The Valence electron of Sb 5p orbit immigratted into Sn 5s orbit and the electronic conductivity of tin oxide film in creased. The selective absorption film of sun light is composed of AlNxOy species. The existence of free Si in Si3N4 film can induce the oxidation of Si3 N4 film. The Auger chemical effects are very useful for the study of chemical states on the surface and interface of materials.

    Wang Xiaodan, Shen Baolian. Study on Microstructure of 3CrMnMoVS Plastic Die Steel[J]. Journal of Materials Engineering, 1995, 0(1): 21-22,20.

    The microstructure of 3CrMnMoVS plastic die steel was studied by using of the optical and transmission electron microscopy. The experimental results indicated that the microstructure of the sample in normallzing state composed of ferritic matrix with irregular shape,in which there were many granular structure and some bacillary or spindle sulphide. While the granular structure composed of high bainite, lower bainite and martensite,and there werecementite with the size of 0.05~0.15μm in parts of ferritic matrix.

    The temper etch inspection behavior of 16NiCo ultra-high strength steel are studied. The results demonstrate nitric acid alcohol solution can be used to 16NiCo steel temper etch inspection.

    A largest domestic plane-carried radar antenna has been developed by the selective structure, materials and processings. It shows excellent universal properties and it has passed the properties tests as well as flight test,now this type of antenna has been manufactured in small batchs.

    To counter the situation of large tolerance of blade die forgings and large amount of work in later sequences,the die set of conventional die forging is partly improved for accomplishing constant load die forging of mechanical press by means of kissing plates. Blade forgings of titanium alloy (TC-11) with tolerance 0.22mm have been forged by mechanical press adopting technology method of constant load die forging.The tolerance is about one third of tolerance in conventional die forgings.

    A composite material with high improved impact resistance is investigated by modifying its matrix a kind of phenolic resin system with active toughness and nonactive additive toughness components,and the performances of the composite can meet the corresponding requirements of the airworthiness specification.
