Qin Shuyi, Zhang Guoding, Wang Wenlong. A Study on the Factors of Low Ductility of SiCp/LD2 Composite[J]. Journal of Materials Engineering, 1998, 0(11): 14-16.
SiCp/LD2 composite has a lower ductility compared with its unreinforced matrix alloy. Analysis on its tensile fractography shows that this is caused by change of matrix flow, fracture of particle,in situ residual strain, unregularity of particle shape,iron-riched impurity phase and particle cluster in some areas
Zhang Haiquan, Zhang Yanhua, Zhang Xingan. High Temperature Fatigue Crack Growth Behavior of Electron Beam Welding Repaired Joints for Components of Jet Engine[J]. Journal of Materials Engineering, 1998, 0(11): 17-19,23.
The influence of mechanical inhomogeneity on fatigue crack propagation behavior of electron beam welding repaired joints was studied in this paper. It was found that crack deflection occurs while it propagates in repair joint zone because of effect of mechanical inhomogeneity. The reason why the crack growth rate of welding area is less than that of matrix metal results from descending of efficiency crack growth driving force due to mechanical inhomogeneity and crack deflection.
Liu Changming, Li Huaji, He Naijun, W. H. Li, K. Xia. Effects of Nd on Structures and Grain Sizes of Ti-44Al Alloy[J]. Journal of Materials Engineering, 1998, 0(11): 20-23.
The rare earth element Nd was added to Ti-44at%Al binary alloy in the range of 0.05 to 0.30 atomic percent by vacuum arc melting and effects of it on structures and grain sizes of the alloy were examined. It was observed that the addition of Nd enlarged the columnar grains and refined coarse equiaxed grains near the center zone in the as-casted ingots. The ingots were subsequently heat treated to obtain fully lamellar structures. The ingot without Nd displayed large equiaxed lamellar colonies of average grain size of >1400μm. The average grain size of the ingot with 0.1at% Nd is ~450μm,and that of the top position of the same ingot is finest (341μm).

Wang Weidong, Wang Yong, He Yanling, Li Hongling. An Investigation on the Interface between Coating and Base Metal of Welded Joints of Enamel Pipelines(I)[J]. Journal of Materials Engineering, 1998, 0(11): 28-29,37.
An investigation on the welded enamel pipelines is taken via microscope, SEM method in this paper. It is found that a lot of porosity and micro-cracks exist in the enamel coating. After welded, the porosity of the coating in HAZ and its nearness decrease, and the bindings of the coating to the matrix become well. However, cracks increase in the zone far from HAZ. The coatings here are easier to be divorced. This is one of the important reasons of corrosion resistance decreasing of the coated pipelines.
Wang Bao, Huang Xü, Gao Yang, Cao Chunxiao, Ma Jimin. Developments of Fireproof Titanium Alloy[J]. Journal of Materials Engineering, 1998, 0(11): 30-32.
It is important to reseach on fireproof titanium alloys. Two systems of Ti-V-Cr and Ti-Cu have been developed by the United States and Russia. The process, microstructure and mechanical properties of Ti Cu were investigated in this paper. The results showed it was possiable that Ti-Cu would been used in aeronautical engin because of their better properties, hot workability and lower cost.
Zheng Yunrong, Ruan Zhongci. Investigation on Hot Cracking of Cast K403 Superalloy Turbine Blades[J]. Journal of Materials Engineering, 1998, 0(11): 33-37.
Hot cracking takes place in a temperature range during solidification of alloys,in which the liquid of interdendrites does not interconnect and the solidification of alloys is completed. The hot cracks of cast turbine blades often appear at the connecting positions between top of blades and airfoil or between root of blades and airfoil. The morphology of hot cracks is zigzag, irregular and discontinuous. The several cracks normally propogate along interdendrites or grain boundaries at the same direction. The fracture surface in the serious hot cracking zone seems to be smooth potato-like shape and the coexistence of the smooth zone and the tearing region appears in the propagating zone of hot cracking. The minor alloying elements which decrease the incipient melting temperature of alloys, such as B and Zr,enhance sensibility of hot cracking obviously.
