Wei Pengyi, Zhong Zhengang, Gui Zhonglou, Liu Rongmin, Lao Riling, Li Jiarong. Effects of Composition on High Temperature Rupture and Fracture Feature of Re-containing Ni-based Single Crystal Superalloys[J]. Journal of Materials Engineering, 1999, 0(4): 3-6,46.
A new secondary generation Nibased single crystal superalloy containing only 2wt%Re was developed. Effects of main alloying elements, W, Re, Ta, Al, RE, on high temperatures(980~1100℃)rupture properties and fracture surface characteristics of Re-containing Ni-based single crystal superalloys were investigated to explore the principle for improving alloying and understand the fracture behavior in this series of alloy. It is found that: increasing the contents of Re, W, Nb, Ta, Al, RE, to certain extent will contribute to improvement of high temperature rupture properties, and then it is turned out to be reasonable to decrease the necessary Re. contents by matching of contents of elements other than Re, especially minor addition of RE Those results are due to individual and mutual effect on strengthening and volume fraction of alloy phases(γ′,γ) and coarsening dynamics of γ′phase during creep process.

The thermal stability of phenyl silicone rubber with various metal oxides as stabilizer has been investigated by heat aging in air at 250℃×72h, 300℃×50h and 300℃×96h. The results show that complex of ferric oxide and stannic oxide improves the thermal stability of phenyl silicone rubber and increases thermal degradation temperature from 380℃ to 450℃.

The turbine vanes of a recently developed aero-engine were cast using a Ni3Al based casting alloy IC6 and then overlaid with NiCrAlYSi coating by vacuum arc deposition and DC magnetron sputter processes. After a 379-hour-long engine test, some black spots with variant sizes occurred on the coating surface at the concave and convex parts of these vanes. In this paper, the origin and effect of black spots on the coating and the base alloy were investigated by SEM, XRD, EPMA and EDS techniques in order to evaluate the applicability of this coating to IC6 alloy and the condition of the engine test as a whole.
Xing Zhanping, Han Yafang, Yan Minggao. Microstructure of the NiAl-Based Alloy by γ′Ductile Phase Reinforcement[J]. Journal of Materials Engineering, 1999, 0(4): 20-22,35.
NiAl-based two-phase (γ+γ′) alloy Ni-31Al was prepared by a directionally solidified method. It was found that the microstructure of the alloy was a braided fiber reinforced NiAl matrix in situ composite. There is one orientation relationship between γ and γ′ phases in the as-cast state. Homogenization at 1280℃/6h followed by air cooling or oil quenching resulted in the γ-NiAl phases in the two alloys mostly transformed to NiAl martensites. In the meantime, volume percent of the γ′-Ni3Al phases decreased with increased cooling rate.

Al-126%Si strips with 0.1 to 0.5mm thickness have been produced directly from the melt by double-roller rapid solidification process. The mechanism and characteristics of this method and key points related to design of the experimental apparatus have been described. The roll surface velocity Vr ranged from 2 to 8.5m/s. It was shown that the strips thickness was proportional to Vr-1/2 and that the microstuctures of the strips were composed of fine primary α-Al phase and very fine eutectic grains of α-Al and Si.Tensile strength and plasticity of the strips were greatly improved.

Liang Jizhao. Effects of Glass Bead Content and Diameter on the Dynamic Mechanical Properties of Filled Polypropylene Composites[J]. Journal of Materials Engineering, 1999, 0(4): 39-42.
The effects of the filler content and diameter on the dynamic mechanical properties of glass bead filled polypropylene (PP) composites have been investigated in a temperature range from -150 to 100℃, by using a dynamic mechanical analyzer. The results show that the storage and loss moduli at room temperature increase non-linearly with increasing the volume fraction of glass beads, φf, at the same conditions the dynamic moduli of the PP filled with big glass beads are higher than those of smaller glass bead filled systems;influence of glass bead content and diameter on the mechanical damping of the composite is insignificant;at BX φf=5%~15% glass transition temperature increases with increase in φf, then decreases;dynamic complex viscosity linearly increases with increasing φf.

TiC/Al2O3 composite ceramics were fabricated by SHS/QC (quick consolidation) in this paper. The phase and microstructure characteristics of TiC/Al2O3 composite ceramics made under various conditions of preheating temperature and diluent were investigated. The results show that as preheating temperature is raised, the combustion is transferred from unstable spiral model to stable planar model, materials are easy to be formed, and reaction is more complete but the microstructure of reaction product was gross. On the contrary, the particles of TiC and Al2O3 produced by reaction were fine, but cracks are easy to appear in the forming process of consolidation. The combustion characteristic parameters of this system were measured by experiments and the reaction mechanisms were also discussed in the paper.
