    The effect of the magnetron sputtering deposition (MSD) NiCrAlY(Si) overlay coating on the oxidation resistance and mechanical properties of a DS casting Ni3Al-base alloy IC6 has been studied in the present investigation. The microstructure and its stability of the coating has been also evaluated in this study. The experimental results showed that the NiCrAlY(Si) MSD overlay coating is proper and effective protecting coating for alloy IC6 and survice condition.

    The failure feature is producing the black protruding corrosion-spot on the oxide scale for the aluminide coating on the Co-base superalloy DZ40M during high temperature oxidation in air. The corrosion-spot emergence marks the beginning of the part failure of the coating, and the corrosion-spot increase and growth present the failure area enlargement. When the corrosion-spot covers the whole surface, it is displayed that the coating fully loses its efficiency.

    ZHU Wen-hui, GAO Yan, LUO Kan-chang, LI Bo-lin, ZHU Min. The Influence of Magnesium Content on the Hydrogen Absorption Properties of MmNi5-x(CoAlMn)x/Mg Nanocrystalline Composite[J]. Journal of Materials Engineering, 2000, 0(5): 9-11.

    In this work,the SEM, X-ray and hydrogen absorption measurement have been used to study the influence of magnesium on the hydrogen absorption properties of MmNi5-x(CoAlMn)x/Mg composite. The results of experiment indicate that the activation property of the composite shows a bad-good-bad trent with the increase of magnesium content When the magnesium reachs 50wt%, the composite can not absorb hydrogen at all Magnesium also has an influence on the hydrogen absorbed content. The absorbed hydrogen content is increased following with the increasing of magnesium content.

    LIU Ying-kai, LIU Zuo-quan, WANG Guang-hou. The Effect of Shock Wave on the Structures of Multilayers Amorphous Alloys[J]. Journal of Materials Engineering, 2000, 0(5): 12-15.

    The effect of shock wave on the structures of multilayers amorphous alloys (Fe0.99Mo0.01)78B13Si9|Fe73.5Cu1Nb3Si13.5B9 has been investigated. It has been found that shock wave can make multilayers amorphous alloys transform into crystalline materials. The grain size and lattice constant of the principal phase α-Fe are smaller than that of shock wave treatment and then annealing. These phenomena may be due to the recrystallization and different solid solution (substitutional solid solution and omission solid solution). The effects of pressure and temperature on the shock wave crystallization of amorphous alloy were discussed in this paper.

    Mechanical properties of carbon fiber-reinforced polylactide (C/PLA) composites were evaluated. The emphasis was focused on the influence of fiber volume fraction (Vf) and nitric acid surface treatment of carbon fibers on the mechanical properties. The results show that the flexural strength,flexural modulus, shear strength and impact strength increase with Vf initially, reach maximum values and then decrease with Vf. Surface treatment of the fibers is found to greatly improve the overall performance of the composites.

    Effect of various matrixes, namely pure Al, 6061Al, 2024Al and 356Al, on wear performance of Al/SiC+Gr was found to be different. The turn of the wear rate of these matrix composites is pure Al matrix, 356Al matrix, 2024Al matrix and 6061Al matrix. It is remarkable that the hybrid composite with a pure Al matrix has the best wear resistant. The analysis of results showed that plasticity of the matrix controls the wear rate of these composites, because plasticity of composites affects the wear performance more than hardness when 20vol% SiC was added in these composites.

    The TiAl exhaust valves were manufactured through induction skull melting, permanent mold casting,hot isostatic pressing and machining. It is shown that TiAl valve is 49.3% lighter than that made of the original materials. The result of test run on 483Q engine shows that TiAl alloy is suitable for making exhaust valve.

    JIANG Chuan-hai, WANG De-zun, YAO Zhong-kai. Modification of the Thermal Residual Stress in the Squeeze Casting Al-SiCw/Al Composites[J]. Journal of Materials Engineering, 2000, 0(5): 24-26,23.

    From the analysis of theory, it was confirmed that the thermal residual stress in Al-SiCw/Al composites can be modified by the pre-plastic-deformation. The Al-SiCw/Al composites was fabricated with the squeeze casting method. The influence of pre-plastic-deformation on the residual stress and tensile property of composites were investigated by experiment. Results shown that, after the pre-plastic-deformation of Al-SiCw/Al composites, the residual stress is decreased markedly, and mechanical property can be improved.

    A new type of pin-ring corrosive wear test device designed by oneself was introduced in the article.Using this device, pure wear rate,corrosive wear rate,friction coefficient, as well as polarization curve and so on,can be measured at different media,temperature,loads,rotating speeds,time and applied potentials.The acidaty and temperature of the media can be determined and adjusted.The performances of the device are also surveyed comprehensively.The results show that the device has higher sensitivity and accuracy.The instrumental error is less than 10% generally.

    In this present work, the fatigue reliability reseach field of composite material is divided into four sections of the load and condition spectrum, fatigue behavior, fatigue life prediction, fatigue reliabilily analysis and design. From the papers on the investigation of these four sections, it is found that many fatigue damage evolution equations and life prediction methods have been presented on fatigue reliability of composite material. Whereas there is a lot of work to do in the research fields of the equivalent damage principle of composites to draw up the load and condition spectrum, fatigue reliability behavior, fatigue reliability life prediction under actural load spectrum and the infinite life reliability design.
