    ZHAO Yu-hou, ZHOU Jing-en, YAN Wen. Influence of the Condition of Reinforcing Phase Al3Ti on Mechanical Properties of Al3Ti/ZL101 Composite[J]. Journal of Materials Engineering, 2001, 0(5): 3-8.

    In situ composite Al3Ti/ZL101 was confirmed by orthogonal experimental method.It is found that the optimum composition is Mg 0.35%,Si 7%,Ti 3.5%;The size of the reinforcing phase and the mechanical properties of this in situ composite are affected by manufacturing technology.The tensile strength and ductility of the composite are higher than those of ZL101 matrix.The average grain size of reinforced phase in the composite is about 0.5μm which is distributed in the matrix uniformly.

    JIANG Chuan-hai, WU Jian-sheng, WANG De-zun. Relaxation Behavior of Residual Stress in an Extruded Tube of the SiCw/Al Composite at High Temperature[J]. Journal of Materials Engineering, 2001, 0(5): 9-11,36.

    The residual stress in a 20vol%SiCw/6061Al composite as-extruded was investigated by using the method of X-ray stress measurement.It is found that,the high residual stress exists in the composite,and the distribution of residual stress in each direction is not uniform.The relaxation process of residual stress in composite was dynamically measured during annealing at high temperature.It is verified that the relaxation of residual stress is in the form of power law at high temperature.With the creep mechanism,the relaxation behavior of residual stresses at high temperature was analyzed.The results show that,the stress exponent and activation energy for stress relaxation of composite is obvious higher than that of the matrix alloy.

    MA Chun-jiang, ZHANG Di, QIN Ji-ning, DING Wen-jiang. Research on Damping Capacity of Mg-Li-Al Alloys[J]. Journal of Materials Engineering, 2001, 0(5): 12-14.

    The damping capacity of MgLi4Al and MgLi8Al alloys was studied.The results showed that the damping capacity of Mg-Li-Al alloys increases with the temperature and lithium content.For MgLi8Al alloy as an example,the damping capacity go up to Q-1=0.01,in the range of high damping metallic materials.The higher damping capacity of MgLi8Al alloy may be attributed to the interface damping between α(Mg) and β(Li) phases.

    A serial of tensional and low cycle fatigue tests for two kinds of titanium alloy:T42NG and T225NG and for 18Cr2NiWA steel at room temperature and 350℃ are carried out.Based on the test results,six monotonic constitutive relationships between stress and strain and six relationships between life Nf and strain amplitude controlled are given.By three ratio λσΔσ and λNf of the materials related to the elevated temperature,The influence of the elevated temperature on both monotonic tensional intensity and cyclic intensity of the titanium alloys and on fatigue life of each material is systematically investigated.According to the important finding about a linearity relationship between the ratio λNf and strain amplitude Δε/2,a new model,or λ-M-C model for predicting the fatigue life of a exponential material under R=-1 and at an elevated temperature is presented.To get the λ-M-C model,the method that may simplify test and regression is discussed.

    The boundary condition between Al2O3 mould shell and a new type single crystal superalloy has been investigated.The results show that the melted superalloy does not react with Al2O3 mould shell,and the Al2O3 mould shell is a good kind of material to match the DD3+Re(2%wt) superally.

    ZAN Qing-feng, HUANG Yong, WANG Chang-an, LI Shu-qin, LI Cui-wei. Effect of the Rod-like β-Si3N4 Grain and SiC Whisker in the Si3N4/BN Multilayer Materials[J]. Journal of Materials Engineering, 2001, 0(5): 22-26.

    The matrix layer and the rod-like β-Si3N4 strengthened the matrix layer and the separating layer of the Si3N4/BN multilayer materials were strengthened using SiCwhicker and rod-like β-Si3N4.The rolling process would orient them in the matrix layer,and they can improve the bending strength and toughness by above 50% as well as the effect in the monolithic materials.When they were in the separating layer,the orientation of β-Si3N4 was poor.It would form the net structure,and their effect was similar to the framework.Moreover,they could increase the delaminating crack length and improve the bonding between the separating layer and matrix layer.The materials were obtained,in which the matrix layer component was Si3N4+20wt%SiCw,the separating layer component was BN+15vol%β-Si3N4.The work of fracture could achieve 4820J/m2 with the bending strength retaining 650MPa.

    The SHS reaction process of Al TiO2 system was studied by means of DSC and quenching experiment.The results show that the intermediate compounds of TiO2-x is formed when molten Al spreads on the surface of TiO2 particles.And the key factor of the reduction reaction in Al TiO2 system is the oxygen diffusion through TiO2-x layers.

    SiO2 nanoparticles were modified through irradiation grafting polymerization and then melt-mixed with polypropylene (PP) to prepare low filler loaded SiO2/PP nanocomposites (typically less than 3vol%).Tensile tests under certain crosshead speeds showed that the addition of grafted nano-SiO2 into PP resulted in a significant increase in toughness and a slight enhancement of yield strength of PP.With a rise in tensile speed,modulus and strength of the nanocomposites increased,while the toughness decreased.Electronic microscopic observation of the fracture surface suggested that the toughening mechanisms of the modified SiO2/PP nanocomposites were controlled by microscopic cavitation and plastic deformation of matrix.

    The effect of powder deposit efficiency of plasma spray on combinative intensity of functionally gradient coatings is studied.Tle results show that deposit efficiency of ZrO2 is lower than Al/Ni,so the grads of component and stress between surface layer and the secondary one is more apparent increased,the combine of interface is more weakly and the combinative intensity of coatings is lower.Increase the content of ZrO2 in secondary layer can get the higher combinative intensity of coatings.

    The microstructure and properties of micron and submicron Ti(C,N)-based cermets were studied in this paper.The microstructures of the two kinds of cermet are composed of a kind of grains with black cores and obvious rim structure,and another kind of grains with cores and unconspicuous rim structure and adhesive phase.For submicron cermet,the grains with white cores,are much more than that in micron cermet,and the properties are higher.In addition,the forming mechanism for the two kinds of cemet is obtained by EDA and Xray diffraction analysis.

    The history of aluminum-lithium alloys was reviewed.It can be concluded that the alloys could be classified three generations according to time and their properties.Further more,the development of the third generation of Al-Li alloys were investigated in detail.A tendency of the third generation of Al-Li alloys is to develop some new alloys with certain excellent properties.
