XIANG Xinghua, LIU Zhengyi, ZHU Huizhao. Fabrication of Fe Base Amorphous Alloy Coating by Plasma Spraying Technology[J]. Journal of Materials Engineering, 2002, 0(2): 10-12.

A kind of Fe base amorphous alloy powder which contents some Si, B, Cr, Ni etc. was used as plasma spraying raw material, the experiment results show that, a very high amorphous content Fe base alloy coating can be fabricated by air plasma spraying. The coating has homogenous microstructure and contains only a little micro pores and oxides. The coating has high hardness and the micro hardness is 530~790Hv0.1. The amorphous alloy coating has a well combination with the A3 steel substrate, and the adhesion strength is about 27MPa. These results indicate that the Fe base amorphous alloy coating has a fine quality, and can meet the application request.

TiB2-TiC ceramics were produced by Self-propagating High-temperature Synthesis and Pseudo Hot Isostatic Pressing using Ti, B4C and carbon powders. The optimal ratio of the reactant powder was determined, which is Ti:B4C=3:1(molar ratio). The results of XRD and SEM analysis show that the final product is pure and no interphases are appeared The mechanical properties of TiC/2TiB2 are improved because the elongated plate like TiB2 exist in the microstructure.

The effect of tensile rates on the elastic modulus(Ec) and yield strength of glass bead filled polypropylene composites was investigated by using an Instron material tester at room temperature. The results show that the Ec increases with increasing glass bead content and is proximately a power function of tensile strain rates, except for individual data point. The tensile yield stress decreases nonlinearly with the addition of the filler volume fraction (φf), while increases with increasing tensile strain rates as a form of power function. Furthermore, the relationship among Ec,φf and stress were discussed.

TiAl-B alloys have been produced by an in situ method. The microstructure, phase institution and the surface morphology of primary TiB2 of these alloys were investigated by XRD and SEM. The results showed that the alloy is composed of TiAl and TiB2, and the primary TiB2 exhibits hexagonal prism shape. There are pyramidal protrusion or rod shape dendrites on (0001) face of the primary TiB2, and the protrusions or rods exhibit facets parallel to the primary TiB2 from which they protrude. The structure of TiB 2 solid liquid interface during solidification has been investigated. It was indicated that solid liquid interface of the primary. TiB2 crystal evolve from single and homogeneous faceted face to a few or more separated solid liquid faceted faces, which are parallel with the original faceted face. Therefore, dendrites are resulted at primary TiB2 crystal solid liquid interface and grow in the same direction with the original TiB2 crystal.

AlZn12Mg2Cu2 alloy was prepared using the spray forming technique at a lower atomization pressure. The microstructures of the deposited material were examined and analyzed by optical microscopy and transmission electron microscopy. It has been found that high compacted equiaxed material with a grains size from 30 to 60 μm can be achieved. MgZn2 phase precipitated in grains and at grain boundaries. After hot extrusion with a extrusion ratio 7.7 and T6 heat treatment, the mechanical properties have been determined. The results are σUS =740MPa, σUTS=753MPa,δ=8.6%.

PENG Chaoqun, HUANG Baiyun, HE Yuehui. Effects of Rapid Heating Cyclic Heat Treatment on Microstructures of TiAl-based Alloys[J]. Journal of Materials Engineering, 2002, 0(2): 27-30,37.

The effects of rapid heating cyclic heat treatment on microstructures of TiAl-based alloys were studied by means of Gleeble-1500 thermal simulator. The results show that the colony size of the as-cast TiAl-based alloy can be refined from about 800μm to less than 50μm, and that of the two-step canning forged TiAl-based alloy from about 50μm to less than 20μm, by using this technology. The neocrystallization nucleation and growth at the grain boundaries and the phase interfaces were analyzed and a physical model was proposed for explaining the formation of fine α2/γfully-lamellar microstructure of the TiAl-based alloys under rapid heating conditions.

This paper presented mainly compositions and phase structures of composite Ni-Al wire and prealloyed Ni-Al wire and their coatings. Related properties such as bond strength, microhardness of two coatings were evaluated. Self bonding mechanism of two coatings were analysised. In addition, the amount and the cost of consumed wires for spraying per square meter were estimated. The substrates with self bonding adapted to two undercoat materials were introduced. The spraying equipments for two wires were also suggested.

Barium titanate thin films was fabricated by microplasma oxidation, and analyzed by XRD and EPMA. The results show that the barium and titanium are distributed evenly without gradient change in the films. According to the phenomena of experiments and results of tests, the influence of concentration and electric density on the film was discussed, and the possible reactions in the process of film fabrication were brought forward.

The friction and wear properties of poly(phthalazine ether sulfone ketone)(PPESK) composites made with nanometer SiO2 particles were investigated with an MM-2000 tester by sliding PPESK-based composites against plain carbon steel (AISI1045) ring. The morphologies of the worn composite surfaces and the transfer films formed on the counterpart steel surface were examined with scanning electron microscope (SEM). It is found that the filling nanometer SiO2 particle to PPESK can greatly increase the wear resistance of PPESK but also improve the friction-reduction performance. The best wear-resistance of the composite is obtained with the composite containing 25% nanometer SiO2.

The characteristics of electron beam curing technique are rapid, effective and low cost. It is found that the adhesion between carbon fibers and matrix of electron beam cured composite was lower than thermal cured composites. So it is important to study the interface properties of electron beam cured composites. In this paper, XPS,Raman were used to characterize the treated and untreated carbon fiber surface properties and ILSS testing method was used to evaluate the interfacial adhesion properties of the electron beam cured composites. From the results it was shown that the trace water absorbed by the carbon fiber and void in the composite material play an important role in the interface properties of electron beam cured composites. The interface properties of electron beam cured composite reinforced by carbon fibers were decreased by electrochemically treating with the ammonium bicarbonate, and increased by treating the carbon fibers with the electron beam curable coating.

Laser surface cladding of SiC powder layer on AA6061 aluminum alloy was carried out using a 2kW CW Nb-YAG laser. Subsequent laser surface melting of the layers gave a surface metal matrix composite(MMC). The microstructure and phase identification of the modified layer were examined using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Xray diffractometry (XRD) respectively. Microhardness, cavitation erosion and electrochemical corrosion tests were also performed in 3.5% NaCl solution at 23℃. Finally the cavitation erosion mechanisms of the laser surface cladding modified layers were studied by surface morphology analysis.
