WU Yi, YIN Chuan-qiang, ZOU Zheng-guang, LI Xiao-min, ZHOU Lang. Research on Al2O3-TiC/Fe-Al Composite by SHS[J]. Journal of Materials Engineering, 2005, 0(7): 3-6,46.

Al2O3-TiC/Fe-Al composite(I/CMC) was synthesized by in-situcarbothermic and aluminothermic reduction using natural ilmenite as raw material. The effect of the material-pressure, preheating-time, dilution and carbon sources on the SHS process of the product was studied. It is shown that the temperature and velocity of the combustion wave come to the max value when the material-pressure is about 40MPa; with the prolong of the preheating-time, only TiC phase, Al2O3 phase, Fe-Al phase and α-Fe binder existed in the product; the dilution can decrease the temperature and velocity of the combustion wave, meanwhile, the density of the materials can be also lowered, which is detrimental to form the ultimate product; when graphite is used as the carbon source, the temperature and velocity of the combustion wave as well as the density are higher, which can reflects the effect of the carbon source structure to the combustion synthesis.

Nano-hydroxyaptite/polyvinyl alcohol (n-HA/PVA)composite hydrogels were prepared and the swelling properties of n-HA/PVA were studied. The result showed that the water content, swelling ratio and dissolution ratio of the composite hydrogels were affected by content of n-HA in the hydrogel and freezing-thawing cycles’ time. The water content, swelling ratio and dissolution ratio were inversely proportional to the content of n-HA in the hydrogels, and the water content and dissolution ratio were also inversely proportional to the freezing-thawing cycles’ time, while the swelling ratio increased with the freezing-thawing cycles’time.

The transformation mechanism of the structural, microstructure and composition of the Mg-Ni specimens during the ball milling were investigated by means of the X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscope and energy spectrum analysis; and the local melt-interdiffusion-rapid solidification mechanism of the as-milled Mg-Ni amorphous formation was put forward as the following:part of the specimen could be melted and nickel would be studded into the melted sample, and the crystal structure which its composition is asymmetrical could be obtained after rapid solidification by impact of balls. The amorphous film on the interface of the sample would be formed during the process of local melt-interdiffusion-rapid solidification by means of ball collision and the thickness would increase with the ball milling time, thus, the composition trend towards uniformity and the atom rank become out-of-order to form amorphous.

Bonded Ni52Mn24.4Ga23.6 magnets were compacted with a magnetic field in which a preferential orientation of the martensitic variants was established. The magnetic-induced strains (MFIS) of bonded magnet were observed at room temperature and 0℃, and the effect of temperature on the MFIS was studied. It was found that applying a field of about 1.2T,the MFIS observed at room temperature saturated with an expanse of 150×10-6;while at 0℃,the MFIS reached saturation at about 0.6T with a shrink of 76×10-6.At the same time, the reversibility of MFIS observed at 0℃ was better than that of MFIS observed at room temperature. The XRD results showed that these characteristics of MFIS could be attributed to the difference of the crystal structure of the bonded Ni52Mn24.4Ga23.6 magnet at different temperature.

To meet the needs of decreasing vibration in aerospace enviornment, the advantages of composite material, such as lightweight, high density and modulus, designable mechanical characteristics, are used to develop isolation ring. The mechanism of isolation and the structure of isolator is researched, and several structural parameters and performance criterion of isolator are studied experimentally. The hysteresis loop and maximal dynamic stress are obtained, they provided the theoretical basis for practical application. Results showed that this kind of isolator has good isolation performance. The changes of the distribution of fibers, the numbers of rings and main geometric parameters can improve the damping characteristics of isolator and can neet the needs of different conditions.

For acquiring new alloy coating with good corrosion resistance and production cost equivalence with hot dip zinc coating, the hot-dip Zn-Mg alloy coating of containing 0.3%~2.0% Mg on surface of A3 steel have been prepared by the method of electrolysis-activated auxiliary . Electrochemistry and neutral salt spray testing have been done for Zn-Mg alloy coating of various components and the surface appearance of coating is observed by SEM. The results show that the corrosion resistance of hot-dipped Zn-Mg alloy coating is improved gradually with increase of the content of Mg, but the increase degree decreases, at the same time, coating crystal particles diminish and structure tends to uniformity. Mg is mainly dispersed to crystal interface for diminishing crystal particles.

A series of star siloxane-terminated oligomers containing 1,1,1-trihydroxylmethylpropane(TMP) and polycaprolactone triol (PCL), i.e. TPSi-A, TPSi-B and TPSi-C were directly synthesized via—OH and—NCO nucleophilic addition reaction. Epoxy resin was then modified with these oligomers. The modified systems were cured with amino curing agent via amino-glycidyl reaction and sol-gel technology. The effects of TMP, silane coupling agent (KBE-9103 selected) and the contents of oligomers on the swelling properties and acid, basic-resistance performances were studied. Experimental results showed that swelling degree of the cured system in toluene was up to 40% when 20%(mass fraction) TPSi oligomer was used in the modified epoxy resin system. Acid and basic resistance properties of the modified system were improved evidently, when 20%~30%(mass fraction) oligomers were composited in the system. However, acid and basic resistance properties of the modified system decreased with TMP increased.

LIU Jian-chao, WANG Tie-jun, ZHANG Wei. Experimental Study on Pinned Joints Strength of Satin Carbon Fabric/Epoxy Composites[J]. Journal of Materials Engineering, 2005, 0(7): 51-54,63.

The effect of specimen width-to-hole diameter ratio (W/D), and the ratio of edge distance to hole diameter (E/D) on the bearing strength of satin carbon fabric/epoxy composites was performed experimentally. Single-hole pin-loaded specimens were tested for their tension response. Failure propagation and failure type were observed on the specimens. The influence of the joint geometry on the strength of the pin-loaded composites was assessed. The experimental results show that the load capacity of carbon fabric reinforced epoxy laminates with pin connection was increased by increasing W and E. However increasing the E/D ratio beyond 2 and increasing the W/D ratio beyond 3 have an insignificant effect on the load capability of the connection.

ZHOU Zhu-fa, WANG Shu-mei. Study on the Process Alumina Ceramics Slurry by Gelcasting[J]. Journal of Materials Engineering, 2005, 0(7): 55-58.

The mechanism and the characteristic of the Al2O3 ceramic by gelcasting was discussed. The influences of the solid content, pH and dispersant on the Al2O3 ceramic slurry which had low viscosity and high solid content in the gelcasting process were researched. The results show that green body bending strength reaches 30MPa when the solid content is 55%(volume fraction) and slurry viscosity meets need of gelcasting. The gelcasting slurry of the low viscosity and high stability is produced when pH of slurry is about 9 and 8% (mass fraction)PMAA-NH4 dispersant is added.
