In this paper,an experimental investigation on fabrication processes of continuous SiC fibre-reinforced Ti-15-3 alloy matrix composite is briefly introduced.Consolidation of the composite fabricated by foil-fibre-foil processing is achieved by vacuum hot pressing or hot isostatic pressing. The preliminary results indicated the fabrication processes used in the experimental investiation is feasible.

Sun Changyi. The Influence of Heat Treatment on the Fracture Behaviour of B/6061 Al Composite[J]. Journal of Materials Engineering, 1993, 0(12): 15-17.

In this poper the influence of T6 heat treatment on the fracture behaviour of B/6061 A1 compositewas investigated. The effects of various factors such as difference btween thermal expansion coefficients ofthe boron fiber and aluminium, interfacial bonding strength, and residual-stress were also discussed. It wasfound that the tensile strength of composite with fiber volume fraction 45% was increased slightly and thevariations in composite strength with fiber volume fraction 5O% were complicated after T6 heat treatment. Therefore,in many cases the B/ 6O61 A1 composite can be manufactured by diffusion bonding, and no subsequent heat treatment is normally carried out.

XD (exothermic dispersion)synthesis for the TiAl intermetallic and the TiAl marix composite reinforced with Tic particles have been investigated.TiAl intermetallic and TiC/TiAl intermetallic matrix composite can be achieved by the XD process at higher temperature than the remelting point of the aluminium.TiAl intermetallic is composied of γ-TiAl+α2-Ti3Al and TiC/TiAl composite is composed of TiAl+Ti3Al+TiC Phases.

Effects of annealing at high temperature and aging on microstructure and martensitic transformation ofNi47Ti44Nb9 alloy have been investigated by means of optical microscopy, electron probe x-ray micro-analyzer and measurement of electrical resistivity vs temperature. It showed that β-Nb phase particles tend to gather and grow when the alloy specimens are annealed at temperatures higher than 1050℃,however,whichhas no effect on the martensitic transformation.During aging there are no precipitates and age hardening, which is different from that in Ni-rich Ti-Ni binary alloys.Nb addition of Ti-Ni alloy restricts the precipitation and R phase transition. Therefore, the sensitivity of martensitic transformation temperatures to heattreatment is reduced and starting temperature of martensitic transformation is stabilized.

Baed on the Study of the particle size distribution, the microstructure mophology and the lattice distortion of Ti-Al mixed powder during mechanical alloying,a mechanism of solid-state transformation wasformed:The lamellase Structure forming by rupture and coalescence offers the space in which the solid-statereaction is performed by diffusing over a short distance between two kinds of metallic atoms. The latticedistortion offers the thermodynamic and kinetic conditions which promoted the solid-state reaction. The solid-state transformation procedure was drawn:The Al atoms diffused into the α-Ti matrix in which a greatnumber of cavities were induced. The supersaturated solid solution of α-Ti formed at first, then it was transformed into Ti3Al intermetallic compoud.

Lui Deming. A Fracture Fault Analysis of Cold-rolled Roller[J]. Journal of Materials Engineering, 1993, 0(12): 40-42.

This paper analyses the reason of the over early faiture fracture of cold-rolled roller by SEM andoptical metallography.Test results show that the roller’s neck R. 1.5 area were corroded to defect onsurface bouse of unsuitable chromate treatment, which was the fatigue fracture source, and lead to instantbrittle fracture in the woking process.Meanwhile, poor density of the material and fracture source beingon the stress concentration area, are also the reasons, which can’t be ignored, that lead to over early fracture of roller,How to prevent the fracture of roller is also mentioned here
