Ge Ali. A Failure Analysis on Broken Junction Crank Arm of Landing Gear of Y-7 Aircraft[J]. Journal of Materials Engineering, 1998, 0(5): 10-11,23.

Fracture failure of junction crank arm of external cylinder retraction-extension actuator of landing gear of Y-7 aircraft is analyzed in this paper. It showes that owing to poor integrity of surface painting on the crank arm, moisture penetrates to metal and sponsors corrosion, resulting in corrosion pits and intergranular micro-cracks.As affected by alternating stress, fatigue cracking initiates whereby and then spreads to the premature failure of the crank arm.

Peng Ping, Li Xiaodong, Zhu Min, Yang Deming. Quantitative Study on the Interfacial Reaction Products of the Cf/Al Composites[J]. Journal of Materials Engineering, 1998, 0(5): 12-15,18.

A new analytical method was designed to determine the interaction product Al4C3 from Al/C composites, based on gas volumetric method combined with the reaction-gas chromatography. Due to its high sensitivity, easy operating and good reproducibility, this method can be applied to analyze the minute reactions in the fiber/matrix interface which are difficult to be identified by other methods. Defining the content of Al4C3 produced per area of carbon fibers,or I, to characterize the degree of the interfacial reaction, I is in the range of 10μg/cm2. The kinetic analysis at 460℃ and 540℃showed that the linear regression coefficients between I and t1/2 were more than 0.9 and the activation energy of interfacial diffusion reaction is 49.20kcal/mol.

Chang Baohua, Shi Yaowu, Dong Shijie. Effect of Elastic Modulus and Thickness of Adhesives on the Stress Distribution in Weldbonded Joints[J]. Journal of Materials Engineering, 1998, 0(5): 19-23.

Three dimensional elastoplastic finite element analysis method (FEM) has been used to study the effect of elastic modulus and thickness of adhesives on the stress distribution in weldbonded joints. Stresses at the edges of the spot welds and the lap zones in weldbonded joints are given under the condition of five types of adhesives. The results show that, for weldbondes joints with low elastic modulus and/or thick adhesive layers, the shear stress in adhesive layers is small while there exists great stress concentration at the edge of the spot welds. With the increase of the elastic modulus and/or decrease of the adhesive thickness, the stresses at the edge of the spot welds decrease and the shear stress in adhesive layers increases. On certain conditions, a deformable and flexible adhesive may be favorable for improving the strength of weldbonded joints, hence, adhesives with low modulus and thicker adhesive layers are preferable.

After electroless Ni-P solution being magnetized, an electroless deposit, which is compact in structure, low in porisity, is obtained It is demonstrated with TEM that the deposit is crystalline (Ni2P、Ni7P3、Ni12、P5) and in normal case the deposit is noncrystalline.

Analysis of mechanical properties and crack propagation rates determination on standard, high strength, direct age and ultra fine grain treated GH169 alloy have been done. The results show that grain refining and granular,δ-phase precipitation at grain boundaries can increase stress rupture ductility at 650℃ and has the lowest crack propagation rate in the condition of creep and creep/fatigue interaction mainly within creep damage.

This paper introduce the results of atmospheric corrosion test for zinc and cadmium coatings on mild steel. This atmospheric exposure test lasted about 5-8years at four types of climate areas. The results show that atmospheric corrosion resistance of cadmium coating is better than that of zinc coating in marine environment and atmospheric corrosion resistance of zinc coating is better than that of cadmium coating in urban environment with pollution atmosphere.

In this paper, the process fabricating Fe thin film by RF magnetron sputtering was discussed. Lower coercive force Hc=6 Oe was achieved under optimum parameters. The surface and depth of Fe thin film were studied by x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and atomic force microscopy (AFM).

Sun Huiyu. RTM Process and Mechanical Properties of 3D Braided Composite Materials[J]. Journal of Materials Engineering, 1998, 0(5): 34-36,40.

The RTM equipment, including air bottle, vacuum pump and electrothermal blast drier,is assembled in this paper. The optimum forming process parameters, such as temperature, time and pressure, are investigated as to 3D braided carbon/epoxy 648 and carbon/bismaleimide.X-rays are used to evaluate some specimens. The effects of textile process parameters on mechanical properties are investigated. The results show that, with the braider angle increases, the tensile and compressive modulus and strength decrease. The braider angle, and transverse angle especially, have an influence upon Poisson′s ratio. Axial yarns can increase elastic modulus and strength, and reduce Poisson′s ratio.

Alminium matrix composites which were reinforced with both SiC particles and flake graphites or by only SiC particles were fabricated by pressure infiltraton casting and their friction and wear performance in dry sliding against steel were investigated. The hybrid composites containing SiCp and graphites showed its superior seizure resistance to matrix alloy and SiCp reinforced composites. In the tribosystem of the hybrid composites, the friction coefficient was lower, the counter-face weared less than that of SiCp reinforced composites due to graphites smearing on the sliding surface, but the wear rate of the hybrid composites was higher due to stress concentration, crack formation and propagation in matrix at the tip of flake graphities.

Cheng Juqiang, He Ziqiang, Sheng Rong, Kang Mokuang. Study of Carburized Characteristic and Wear Behavior in Meta-Bainitic Steel[J]. Journal of Materials Engineering, 1998, 0(5): 44-47.

In this paper, carburized characteristic and wear behaviour of carburized layer are studied. Experimantal result shows that microstructure of non carburized layer is meta-bainite, the microstructure of autside area in carburized layer is high carbon martensite and retained austenite, after meta-bainitic steel is carburized and air-cooled. The wear testing shows that the wear resistance of carburized layer of meta-bainitic steel reachs or excecds that of 18Cr2Ni4WA steel. The wear mechanism of dish obrasive wear is mainly microcut. The wear mechanism of impact abrasive wear is mainly strain controlled. Meta-bainitic steel can be used as carburized steel, and it can replace the carburizing steel with high alloy element, high properties and nickel element.
