    Electrical conductive polymer composites consisting of acryloniotrile-butadiene-styrene copolymer (ABS), polypropylene (PP) and stainless steel fiber (SSF) were prepared, respectively. Based on an investigation of the electroconductive and electromagnetic interference shielding properties of the composites as a function of filler concentration, it is found that SSF/PP system exhibit lower percolation threshold and higher shielding effectiveness in comparison with SSF/ABS composite. Absorbing attenuation makes more contribution to the shielding effect of the composites than the loss due to reflection.

    REN Lu-quan, QIU Xiao-ming, LI Jian-qiao. The Wettability and Mechanics Property of the CuZn Filler Metals Brazing White Cast Iron[J]. Journal of Materials Engineering, 1999, 0(12): 6-8,25.

    The wettability and mechanics property of the CuZn filler metals brazing white cast iron was investigated in this paper. It′s shown that the wettability and the shear strength of the CuZn filler metals containing 38% Zn are the best. The wettability and the shear strength for the CuZn filler metals brazing white cast iron are lower than these of the CuZn filler metals brazing 35# steel. The erosion of the white cast iron over-dissoluing into the filler metals is the main reason reducing the wettability and shear strength.

    The strain-rate dependence and energy absorption ability of Polyvinyl alcohol(PVA), E-glass and Kevlar49 fibre bundles were compared at the present paper. The tensile impact experimental results show that mechanical properties of three fibre bundles are rate-dependent, except for the elastic modulus of PVA fibre bundles. The rate-sensitive degrees of PVA and E-glass fibre bundles are greater than that of Kevlar49 fibre bundles, while Kevlar49 has the highest energy absorption ability.

    WANG Lei. Thermal Properties and Applications of Crosslinked Acrylic Plastics[J]. Journal of Materials Engineering, 1999, 0(12): 16-18.

    This paper studied the thermal properties of six types of crosslinked acrylic plastics. Experimental and comprehensively analytical results show that the thermal properties of the crosslinked acrylic plastics are better than that of the linear acrylic plastics which are not plastisized. From the respect of thermal property, crosslinked acrylic plastics can be the candidate materials for manufacturing the transparencies of the Mach 2.3~2.5 advanced fighters.

    Nano-porous SiO2 aerogel insulation were prepared via sol-gel process using tetraethoxysilane (TEOS) as the precursor and followed by ethanol supercritical drying. TEM, SEM and pore size distribution techniques were used to characterize the morphology and pore structure of the silica aerogels. The thermal conductivity measurement of the silica aerogels was determined using the transient hot-wire technique. The results show that the pore size is 5~70 nm, the average pore size (BJH) is about 20 nm, the size of the particles is 5~10nm while the thermal conductivity of the silica aerogel (100kgm-3) is 0.0125 Wm-1K-1 at room temperature and 1 atm.

    The superplastic behavior of a Ti-46.7Al-2.2Cr(at%) alloy with two different microstructure was investigated under lower temperature(1075℃).The elongation obtained in hot deformed material (517%) was much higher than that in duplex material (333%), which shows that the initial microstructure has great influence on the superplasticity of TiAl based alloy. Dislocation network is easy to form in hot-deformed material during superplastic deformation because of the high density of initial dislocation and thus strengthened the material. In this way, the local necking will be transformed to other area and thus the uniformity of deformation is preserved.

    Although some experimental investigation of microcosmic tissue and mechanical properties for ultrahigh-strength steel 23CoNi has been reported, there are still pome problems that are not clear on the formation mechanism of several kinds of carbides and the evolving law of microcosmic tissue in the course of tempering Thus, the paper focuses mainly on the investigation of the modulated structure, i.e. the depleted and rich regions, formed through spinodal decomposition at the early stage of tempering for 23CoNi steel, and delves further into the formation law of reverted austenite in the mid-period of tempering.

    CHENG Yao-yong, MA Wen-li, GUO Wan-lin. The Microstructure and Properties of TLP Diffusion Bonding Joints of TC4 Alloys[J]. Journal of Materials Engineering, 1999, 0(12): 31-34.

    Ti-6Al-4V alloy was bonded by TLP method using BTi35ZrCuNi amorphous foil as the interlayer alloy. The microstructures and properties, as well as the element distribution of the joints were examined. The results show that lamellar structure is formed in the bonding seam under suitable conditions, and the corresponding tensile strength of the joints reaches 907 MPa The joints also exhibit good toughness.

    This paper reviews the recent development of the biomaterials for internal fixation plates. The mechanical properties and biocompatibility of the bioresorbable polymers (such as polylactide, polyglycolide, etc.), self-reinforced bioresorbable polymer composites and carbon fiber reinforced bioresorbable composites are presented. Carbon fiber reinforced bioresorbable composites are considered to be the most promising biomaterials for fracture fixation.

    FGH95 powder metallurgy superalloy and the fabrication of turbine disks have been developed by as-HIP. Argon atomized(AA)powder or plasma rotating electride processed (PREP)powder has been toughened by particles boundary toughening and heat treatments,and consolidated to near net shape to produce turbine disks for an aircraft engine The disks have been successfully passed the ground testings.

    Since the success of Au Si amorphous alloy was found by rapidly cooling in 1960, many bulk amorphous alloys have been produced and a great number of data have been published. One of main studying aims about bulk amorphous alloys is to find a series of alloys with high glass forming ability, so as they can be fabricated by conventional casting or high pressure die casting techniques. Based on computational materials science and database knowledge, computer aided composition design will gradually replace traditional “trial and error” methods to develop new bulk amorphous alloy systems. The database has been assembled with a lot of documents and data about bulk amorphous alloys, has convenient inquiry, index, and modification functions In the database, these disordered data have been systemized and regularized and can be directly used by other computational programs. It is conclusion that the bulk amorphous alloys database is especially helpful to research and design bulk amorphous alloys.
