CHEN Yu-hong, LI Lei. Study on the Structure of Lightweight Bulletproof Glass[J]. Journal of Materials Engineering, 2002, 0(6): 7-9,36.

Materials and structure appropriate for lightweight glass were selected according to ballistic tests and aerial density tests of different structure laminated by various materials. The result show that the G/DYB/PC laminated by glass as front plate, polycarbonate as surface of backing plate, and stretched acrylics interposed between glass and PC, has the best properties. Compared with the traditional bulletproof glass, G/DYB/PC has a weight decrease by more than 20%. Furthermore the structure of gap armor were studied.

A two-step penetration method using the microindentation technique was presented to investigate the hardness and elastic modulus of thin films in this paper, and the method was used to evaluate the relationship of hardness, elastic modulus and modulation period of (Ti,Al)N/AlN multilayers. The results show that hardness and elastic modulus of the multilayers increase monotonously as the period decrease. The maximum value of HV=29.0GPa and E=383.0GPa, respectively, is reached at the period 1.3nm, Which demonstrates that there exist superhardness and supermodulus effects in the (Ti,Al)N/AlN multilayers.

The microstructure of transient liquid phase bonded aluminium metal matrix composite joint with Al-Si insert alloy and effect of process parameters on the joint shear strength have been studied. The joining zone mainly consists of Al-Si alloy and Al2O3 particulate segregation does not occur. The joint crack initiates at the interface between Al-Si alloy and Al2O3 particulate and mainly propagates in the joining zone Al-Si alloy. Effect of process parameters on the joint shear strength is Al-Si insert alloy thickness, joining temperature and joining time in proper order. The joint shear strength of 70~80MPa can be obtained when process parameters are suitable.

The KR-curve behavior for SiC material was measured by loading-unloading technique combined with compliance calibration at high temperatures in this paper. The testing results indicate that the KR increases with increasing crack length at high temperatures; with temperatures increasing, the toughening exponent of ceramic materials decreases and the KR-curves become flat. The increased KR-curve behavior at high temperatures for ceramics is relevant with the crack deflection and the interaction between crack surfaces in wake area behind the crack tip. The method of loading-unloading combined with compliance calibration is an effective and simple test technique for measuring KR-curve behavior of ceramics at high temperatures.

In order to improve the properties of corrosion-resistance and wear-resistance of Ti alloy, a layer of ceramic film grown on the surface of Ti alloy with micro-plasma oxidation technology (MPOT) was studied. Based on the electrolyte of phosphate, potassium dichromate was added into the solution of phosphate in order to enhance its property of anticorrosion. When the thus produced film is compared with former one, the following results are found: First, it becomes more condensed. Second, by analyzing both the films with XPS, it is found that the amount of phosphor increases and very small amount of Chromium appears. Third, anti-point corrosion property of it is greatly improved because of the addition of potassium dichromate. So, the effect of potassium dichromate on the mechanism of micro-plasma oxidation reaction is studied.

The 2024 aluminum alloys made by EMC and DCC were analyzed by optical microscope and scanning electron microscope, T6 treatment was given to investigate the mechanical properties such as hardness, wear resistance and fatigue. It is shown that EMC ingots have fine and uniform grain structure, which make the EMC ingots have high hardness and good fatigue. The hardness of EMC specimens is two times as high as DCC ones and the fatigue three times in as-cast state. The EMC specimens also expresses an excellent characteristic in wear resistance; the weight loss is only a half of DCC specimens.

LiTaO3 piezoelectric secondary phase as reinforcement was incorporated and dispersed in Al2O3 structural ceramic matrix by cold isostatic pressing (CIP) and pressureless sintering in air. It is shown that LiTaO3 is phase compatible with Al2O3 matrix at 1300℃. The addition of LiTaO3 improves the sinterability of Al2O3 ceramics. The Al2O3 matrix ceramic composite with modest amount of LiTaO3 addition showes a significant increase in mechanical properties.

Powders of Al-17Si-6Fe-4.5Cu-0.5Mg alloy were prepared by ultrasonic gas atomization process. By means of XPS, oxidation and adsorption characteristics of the powder surface were studied and constructions of the surface layer of the powder were analyzed. The results showed that Al and Mg elements in the powder surface were oxidated chiefly, forming Al2O3, Al(OH)3 and MgO However,Si, Fe and Cu elements were hardly oxidated. In addition a contamination layer of hydrocarbon containing Cl element was adsorded on the surface of the powder. The total thickness of oxidation and adsorption layers was about 2nm through determination.
