    The new composite structure models for hypervelocity impact resistance were provided based on the rule of dynamic wreck damage. Several materials system including dual-wall configurations, energy absorption porous materials, fiber-reinforced ceramic matrix composites and epoxy matrix composites were experimentally investigated,the concept of structural pressure wall models with multifunctional was provided to prevent the perforation against hypervelocity impact.

    The structure changes of Cu-Al-TiO2-B2O3 powders during mechanical alloying and sintering subsequently were investigated The results indicate that Cu(B, Ti), Al2O3 and a little TiCu3 powders can be formed in Cu-Al-TiO2-B2O3 powders through mechanical alloying, the Al2O3 is formed by a local self-sustained reaction during mechanical alloying.The dual-phase reinforced composite Cu-(TiB2+Al2O3), with a good properties, can be synthesized through processes of mechanical alloying and sintering with the raw materials of Cu, Al, TiO2, and B2O3.

    Submicron TiC-TiN-WC-Mo-Ni-C composite powder have been manufactured by attritor milling, and submicon Ti(C,N)-based cermets have been sintered. with those composite powder.The effects of attritor milling process parameters, such as the raw materials particle size, grinding medium size, milling time on the mean size of composite particles have been investigated.The levels of contamination caused by O2 and Fe have been analyzed.The microstructure and properties of sintered alloys have also been studied, and it showed that the properties of submicron Ti(C,N)-based cermets are greatly ameliorated.

    The present paper investigated the effects of SiC nano-particles on the restricted stability of ZrO2 tetragonal phase as those were appended to Al2O3-ZrO2 composite ceramics sintered by hot pressing technique.The results display that the addition of SiC nano-particles affect the sintering property of composites.The SiC nano-particle located in the grain boundary reduce the matrix restriction impressed on ZrO2 grains and is not favorable to the tetragonal phase retention at the room temperature.

    SONG Jin-xia, LI Shu-suo, XIAO Cheng-bo, WEN Li-shi, HAN Ya-fang. Repair of NiCoCrAlY Overlay Coating on Ni3Al Base Alloy IC6[J]. Journal of Materials Engineering, 2002, 0(7): 20-23.

    The effect of NiCoCrAlY coating repair during its preparation on coating itself and microstructure and mechanical properties of Ni3Al base alloy IC6 was studied.The results indicate that the repaired coating connects to base alloy IC6 compactly through diffusion layer, without any cavity and crack at the coating/matrix interface, similar to original coating and there is obvious concentration gradient of all elements between coating and matrix.And coating repair has no obvious effect on the mechanical properties of alloy IC6.After 1100℃/90MPa stress rupture test, the obvious interdiffusion happens between the repaired coating and base alloy, in both of original and repaired coatings, the content of Mo in the coating is up to about 16%(mass fraction), and the content of Cr and Co decreases to about 5%(mass fraction).The coatings still have good adherence to the base alloy.Therefore, the NiCoCrAlY coating repair is feasible.

    SHI Zhi-qiang, XI Xue-kui, SONG Yu-qiang, LI Shi-chun, YE Yi-fu. Constant Load Tensile Investigation on Zn-5Al Superplastic Alloy[J]. Journal of Materials Engineering, 2002, 0(7): 24-26.

    With the constant load creep method, the strain rate sensitivity exponent m, the superplastic deformation activation energy Q and the viscosity exponent η for Zn-5Al superplastic alloy was measured.Experment results show that the bigger the deformation rate ∈, the bigger strain rate sensitivity exponent m, and the smaller the viscosity exponent η.If the as-rolled specimen is annealed before superplatic deformation, the deformation stress will become bigger and the elongation become smaller, which is because of the diminishing of the motivity of superplastic deformation due to the release of the stored energy through recovery and recrystallization.

    Cf/SiC composites were fabricated by Self-heating Chemical Vapor Infiltration (SHCVI), Mechanical properties of the composites were investigated, Microstructure and fracture morphologies were observed-under SEM.It showed that:SHCVI can have faster infiltration rate than other CVI methods.Increase of gas flow rate will improve the composites, properties.The thickness of carbon coating has great influence on their mechanical properties, the appropriate value of which is within 0.35~0.55μm.

    The stretching,compression and bending experiments have been done for the 4-step 3D braided composites.The principal mechanical properties and destruction rule of 3D braided composites are obtained.The results of these experiments show that the 3D braided composites have good mechanical properties,and the braiding process and the braiding structures have a great influence on them.These results can provide an experimental basis for further studies on the failure problems of braided composites.

    Phenolic resins which had various orth/para hydroxy methyl ratios were synthesized by use of complex alkali catalysts and under various ratios of formaldehyde/phenol.The fused-ring transition mechanism of carbonization of phenolic resin could be optimized by altering the orth/para crosslink degree, the course of carbonization could go slowly and steadily, and the char yielded show a high tendency towards graphitization under high temperature, and so ablative ability could be improved.When the formaldehyde/phenol ratios were in 1.6~1.8,the phenolic resins' ablation morphological appearances were ameliorate, and their char yields and ablation rates of the composite were relatively ideal.
