An investigation of transient liquid phase (TLP) diffusion bonding of the first generation single crystal superalloy DD3 was presented. The interlayer alloy employed was an amorphous foil developed for DD3 alloy. The obtained stress-rupture property of the TLP bonded joints reached 90% of that of the base metal. The engineering feasibility of diffusion bonding of DD3 single crystal superalloy two-halves blades was also studied.

The effects of micro-pore parameters, pore size, pore distribution of polyimide matrix micro-porous materials was studied when correlated additives are added in it. 5% (mass fraction) MoS2, 5% Pb and 5% PTFE were added in polyimide powders of grain of 20μm separately at the pressure of 35-105MPa to mold beforehand by molding-pressure process, micro-porous materials were prepared by hot pressing and consolidation in vulcanizer. Pore parameters was measured through foam-diameter instrument. The results show that all pore parameters have changes when 5% MoS2, Pb, PTFE are added, and pore size distributions are disperse obviously, especially the disperse of PTFE is more obviously.

The viscosity of resin is one of important parameters for resin transfer molding. Rheological behaviors of a bismaleimide resin for resin transfer molding was systemic studied in this paper. A rheological model based on dual-Arrhenius equation was established and used to simulate rheological behavior of this resin. The established viscosity of the model was in good agreement with the results of experiments. The manufacture technology of the bismaleimide resin that is most important for resin transfer molding was forecasted and controled.

JIA Xinyun, LIU Peiying, TAO Ye. Oxidation Behavior of Ti60 Alloy at 650-750℃[J]. Journal of Materials Engineering, 2003, 0(6): 18-22.

The oxidation of Ti60 alloy (Ti-5.6A1-4.8Sn-2.OZr-1.OMo-0.85Nd-0.34Si) has been investigated. Thermodynamic and dynamic laws were studied by means of calculating the oxidation weight gain, oxidation rate constants and activities. The microstructure and morphology of oxidation scales on surface were examined with XRD and SEM. The element profile along oxidation layer was studied by AES to understand the diffusion behavior. The results indicate that Ti60 alloy exhibited the parabolic rule of oxidation rate at 650℃ and 700℃, but obeyed the parabolic-linear rule at 750℃, The oxidation scales are composed of TiO2 and A12O3. The morphology of oxidized surface possesses grill-like structure because α phase, β phase, and α/β interface are different in oxidation rate. Oxidation of rare earth phases is more serious than that of substrate.

Three pieces of Cr2O3-Al2O3/Al2O3 double-layered pellets were set in microwave chamber in three ways perpendicularly to each other. After specimens were sintered in microwave at 1580℃ for 30 minutes, the tracer Cr3+ ion cross-section of specimens were analyzed by XEDS. The diffusion distances of Cr3+ ion into other side in the direction of microwave oscillations were greater approximately 28% than that in the microwave propagating direction. The anisotropic diffusion was caused by polarized electric field of microwave superimposed on the chemical potential of tracer ion during microwave heating. The intrinsical diffusion in ceramics sped by microwave non-thermal effect was explained through that the microwave field influence on the charged particles. The relationship of diffusion flux in the microwave field JM and heat-driven lattice oscillation diffusion flux JC was also educed.

ZHAG Guangan, LUO Shoujing, TENG Dongdong. The Effect of Plastic Working on Micro-structure and Properties of Csf/Al Composite[J]. Journal of Materials Engineering, 2003, 0(6): 32-35.

Short fibre reinforcement Al-base composite can be manufactured various pieces by plastic working, but process of plastic deformation plays import role on micro-structure and properties of materials. In this paper, greens of Csf/Al composite were prepared by extrusion infiltration, and it was studied the effect of deformation temperature and deformation extent on micro-structure and properties of materials by extrusion. The results show that definite deformation could stitch micro-core resulting from imperfection infiltration and make short fibre array at a direction, so improve properties of the composite; however large deformation made short fibre break and deteriorated properties of the composite; properties of the composite became better and better with the rise of deformation temperature.

Preparation of polymer-derived SiC fibers involves a pyrolysis process, in which great weight loss and shrinkage are usually recorded. As a result, stress concentrates on the bend portion of the fibers and then lower their tensile strength. To avoid the bend portion and stress concentration, a pyrolysis under tension, as well as their effect on the tensile behavior of SiC yarns was studied. Results revealed that so-obtained SiC fibers are straight and parallel to each other. The crack load of SiC yarns is much increased, or in another word, their weave capability is much improved.

The adhesive is made of silicone rubber by adding VTPS and metal oxide. The method can improve adhesion strength and heat resistance of adhesive, overcome the difficulty of bonding between silicone rubber and metal. Adhesion strength of cohesive body reached above 2.5MPa at room temperature and 0.83-1.45MPa at 300℃ Maximum application temperature will get to 350℃.

The high temperature adhesive was prepared using phenol-formaldehyde (PF) resin as matrix and boron carbide as additive that showed satisfied bonding properties for graphite. Subsequently, the graphite components bonded by the above adhesive were heat treated at different high temperatures. By means of X ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), the composition of elements contained as well as its changes was studied, and the influences on the bonding properties were also discussed. The results show that carbon, boron and oxygen are the basic elements at bonding interface. The amorphous carbon produced from PF resin works as the framework of cements and its change has marked effects on the stability of cement. In addition, boron exists on the adhesive interface as the form of B4C or B2O3, and the existing forms have marked influence on the performance of graphite's bonding.
