Abstract：The central transmission cone gear assembly of WJ5AI is investigated and the cause of failure is analyzed in this paper.The result shows that unsafe factors exists in the structural design of the former central transmission cone gear assembly.Fitting tightness between the central transmission cone gear and the axle is small.Columnar pin transfers the torque under alternate loading,and fretting occurs on the contact surface between the pin and the corresponding hole.Further growth of fretting leads to the failure of torque transfer of the central transmission cone gear assembly.
